We recently paid Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomer’s artist-in-residence (AIR), Juan Lopezdabdoub, a visit to see what he’s been up to since he started his residency three months ago.
The artist is working on a series of digital images that take the template of The Globe & Mail to create The Globe We Nail: News I would like to read on a Sunday afternoon over a cup of coffee. With this project, Lopezdabdoub takes photoshopped images, illustrations, and his own write-ups to create a “tongue-in-cheek” mock newspaper that provides a satirical and critical review of the state of how world news is presented and viewed.
