Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) is a free language-training program for eligible adult learners designed to improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. You will also learn more about daily living in Canada and the workplace.
Community English
Community-based English as Another Language (EAL) classes for immigrant Albertans who are beginner or intermediate learners whose first language is not English. Classes are
offered in various locations throughout Edmonton.

English for Seniors
We offer part-time community-based English classes for mature immigrant Albertan learners (55 year and older).
Teach English (TESOL)
We offer a teacher training program for people who have a bachelor degree (any concentration) and who would like to work as a teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL)
Care for Newcomer Children (CNC)

Learners in LINC classes anywhere in Edmonton may be eligible for childcare at no cost in a licensed daycare or day home for children aged 5 or younger under the Community-Based Care for Newcomer Children (CBCNC) program.

The Newcomer Centre CBCNC program is also supported by Newcomer Centre’s settlement team for LINC students.

conversation circles for seniors
Newcomer Centre provides newcomer seniors with opportunities to practice English in
an informal and casual setting. Since 2020, this online conversation
circle has allowed newcomer & immigrant seniors to make connections
with others virtually through a supportive EAL environment.
