An organization that helps newcomers access services and get settled in Edmonton has just moved back near its old stomping grounds.
The Newcomer Centre’s Welcome Centre had been a tenant in Millbourne Market Mall in the Mill Woods neighbourhood for around 20 years. That location closed last year amidst changes in the organization’s structure. But after talks with the non-profit’s main funder, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, a decision was made to keep a presence in the southeast, a pocket of the city known for having a strong presence of newcomer communities.
