Global Girls Career Day (Youth volunteers only)

Global Girls is a safe space for girls, women and femmes to make new connections, build their self-confidence, and explore their identity. It is a collaboration between the Newcomer Centre’s Community Programs and ESWIS (Enhanced Settlement Workers in Schools) teams. On November 22, 2025, we are seeking youth volunteers (girl, woman, or femme only) to support the Career Day. It is a day for the participants to make connection with others and engage in different topics related to career.

Youth who sign up for the volunteer roles below will be provided opportunities to participate in the activities during the event.

-Handing out participant packages
 Hospitality 2 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm -Greeting all attendees at front doors and guiding to 3rd floor
-Guest services and site cleanliness.
-Directing guests with questions to appropriate person or area
-Keeping site clean, especially eating area, emptying and replacing garbages/recycle as needed, stacking up garbage/recycle in one area for cleaning staff, etc.
-Hosting the photo opportunity / selfie spot
-Monitor comments wall and area
-Setting up catering and keeping clean

Volunteer roles that required volunteers to move between different sessions:

Floaters 2 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm -Greet speakers
-Give them access and direction to park underground
-Direct them to different rooms
-Answer questions
-Ensure they stay hydrated

To Volunteer in this Role You Should:

  • Youth 15 to 22 years old only
  • Girl, woman, femme only
  • Take the initiative and connect well with people
  • Be flexible, patient and a good communicator
  • Respect people of all cultures
  • Be organized, encouraging and adaptable
  • Reliably commit to a volunteer schedule
  • Be able to move around and lift items

Additional Information: 

This event will be hosted at the Central location 10170 112 Street, volunteers are required to be onsite one hour early to go through an orientation with staff. The event will start at 1:00 pm and go until 6:00pm. All volunteers and staff will assist with clean up at the end of the day which will start at around 6:30 pm. Snacks and lunch will be provided.
