Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) is a free English language training program for eligible adult learners designed to improve basic and intermediate reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, as well as learn about daily living in Canada and the workplace.

Who can Enroll?

Eligible participants must first take an English placement test with Catholic Social Services Language Assessment, Referral, and Counselling Centre (CSS LARC), and be:

  • Adults – 18 years old or older;
  • Permanent Residents

LINC Classes

Virtual (online) and face-to-face (in-person) classes for CLB 1 – 4 available at the Gupta Newcomer Resource Centre at 11713 82 ST NW—Edmonton, AB—T5B 2V9.

Morning Classes: Part-Time

  • Monday to Friday
  • 9:00 am—12:00 pm

Afternoon Classes: Part-Time

  • Monday to Friday
  • 1:00 pm—3:30 pm

Evening Classes: Part-Time

  • Monday, Tuesday & Thursday
  • 6:00 pm—9:00 pm

Thursday & Friday (Virtual)

  • 9:00 am—2:00 pm

Registration

Register in person at the Gupta Newcomer Resource Centre at 11713 82 ST NW – Edmonton.

  • Wed. & Fri.—09:00 am—3:00 pm

Bring with you:

  • English test result issued by Catholic Social Services Language Assessment, Referral, and Counselling Centre (CSS LARCC)
  • PR Card 
  • Photo ID

Childcare Services

  • Free on-site childcare services may be available to parents enrolled in in-person LINC classes during the day and have a child or children aged 6 months to 5 years old, or
  • Free community-based childcare services may be available to parents enrolled in online LINC classes who have preschool or younger children.
