Newcomer Centre’s Immigrant Women’s Integration Network (I-WIN) is for immigrant women in Edmonton to quickly access the tools they need; allowing them to achieve their goals and participate fully in Canadian economic, cultural, and social life. This will look different for each woman, but it is rooted in the power of joining together to pool experience, knowledge, and resources.
Newcomer Centre’s I-WIN program empowers women to create the lives they envision for themselves in Canada by connecting women to each other and to the broader community; energizing and supporting women in their journey and providing them with the tools to realize their talents and passions.

How the Program Works
There are two streams of participation:
7-Week Certificate Program
- I-WIN participants explore and learn as a group about Canadian culture, personal wellness and so much more through class lectures, discussions, guest speakers and networking activities that set the foundation for participants to be successful in achieving their personal goals in Edmonton.
- The program is offered numerous times throughout the year, so please contact us for information about upcoming cohorts.
- Current certificate program cohort classes run Monday to Wednesday – 1- 3 PM.
Drop-In Program
- Every Thursdays, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at our office downtown (10170 – 112 Street NW Edmonton, AB, T5K 2L6)
- These sessions feature a variety of fun and engaging activities designed for women to connect, learn new skills, and enjoy each other’s company. Expect topics ranging from arts and crafts to dance, educational activities, and more
- Registration is required before dropping in.

Eligibility
For 7-Week Certificate Program
- Identify as a female immigrant.
- Have permanent resident status in Canada OR a refugee claimant with a positive Notice of Decision referred to as a (Protected Person).
- Have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) proficiency of at least Level 4 or higher in speaking and listening.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Reside in metropolitan Edmonton area.
For Drop-In Program
- Identify as a female – regardless of status.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Reside in metropolitan Edmonton area.
Frequently Asked Questions
Currently, I-WIN is only able to offer in-person classes/sessions.
Transportation support within Edmonton area is unfortunately no longer available.
Due to recent funding reductions, we are unfortunately not able to provide childcare supports.
