History of RISE Awards
Twenty years ago, in the wake of rising xenophobia post-9/11, we saw the creation of the RISE Awards as a way to empower the newcomers in our city by creating awards that celebrate and honour all the great talents and perspectives that diversity brings.
In 2003, we began the tradition of celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of immigrants and local businesses for their commendable commitments to building strong communities through social, cultural and economic development.
Today, this tradition continues.
